NOVEMBER'S THANKS & GIVING'S

As we all start planing to adorn our tables with our wonderful Thanksgiving Day Feast to share with our blessed families and friends let's remember there are so many people  that our not as fortunate as some of us and with that being said.... I will be hosting a food drive starting November 1st through November 22nd. Many of you that know me know that I love my city...I have many fond memories as a child of going downtown and  when I get a free day to myself yep I'm usually down in the D, weather I'm riding my scooter, dining, capturing photos or at one of the many old beautiful church's  for Sunday mass. What can I say I'm just a Detroit girl at heart and that is why I've selected St Aloysuis Parish in the heart of the city to donate all collected food to them because they help so many on a day to day basis. So with the THANKS & GIVING season here I hope we can all be THANKFUL and be GIVING during this time. I know that this Pierogi Gal is very thankful for the gifts I receive daily and I hope you all will help me make a difference in today's world....

DECEMBER'S GIFT'S

Hmmm....Where do I start with this one ? Well....I guess I'll just say I have a very big soft spot for the homeless. Every night I pray to the Lord to give them a safe and comfortable place to rest, a good meal to nourish them and a new path for a better way of life, regardless of  what lead them to the street...could be addiction, mental illness, no family, life circumstances and for some it's just a choice like my friend Link told me.  I don't judge  because it could easily be me or you for that matter. I treat them just like I treat every customer that comes through my door after all we all are brothers and sisters as the Lord puts it and I do believe that whole hearty and this is why I am hosting a "Let's stay warm drive/coat drive" this month. After getting to know Link, Dan and Latasha and her two children Mia and Issac down in the city  this past year and seeing how they tried to stay warn nestled up on a church step or the doorway of a vacant building tiring to stay out of the cutting wind I just can't imagine nor do I want to...but we can all play our part by donating new or gently used coats, maybe even hats, gloves, old boots or hand warmers... I never go down to the city without them during the cold months. They're always so happy to see hand warmers and so appreciative when I pass them out  to them. The smile on their face just warms my heart. I will take some of the donations to St Aloysuis again because they do wonderful work, however I plan on passing some out personally because I know quite a few spots in the city where the homeless linger.
